Rumours: Nokia Windows RT 10.1-inch tablet to be called Lumia 2520

The Nokia Windows RT tablet previously codenamed as Sirius may have already got a name. This time it may be called the Nokia Lumia 2520. The leak comes courtesy of @evleaks, who has been surprisingly accurate about these Nokia naming conventions so far. Tech specs and features for the Lumia 2520 include a Snapdragon 800 processor, 1080p display, 32GB storage 4G LTE support and detachable keyboard cover. The 10.1-inch Windows RT tablet is expected to be launched on 22 October 2013 and we should probably be able to expect Malaysia release dates on or around said date. Pricing for the tablet is so far estimated to be around $499 (RM1584) so if you're thinking about Windows RT (and who exactly is?) then you should start saving up for October 2013.

  • Nokia Malaysia launches Lumia 1020 for RM2499, includes RM299 camera grip

Nokia Malaysia launches Lumia 1020 for RM2499, includes RM299 camera grip

Nokia Malaysia recently launched the Lumia 1020 cameraphone in Malaysia for RM2499. As the cameraphone with the only 41MP camera sensor and the ability to take Lytro-like blur-free photos, the Lumia 1020 is probably the cameraphone to beat. While the RM2499 price is a bit high, this is probably because the RM299 camera grip is also included. The camera grip isn't just a frame add-on as it also packs in a built-in 1020 mAh battery, extending the battery life of the 2000 mAh powered Lumia 1020 by up to 50% more while giving a more camera-like grip for taking pics. Tech specs and features for the Lumia 1020 include a 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, the 41MP camera sensor, optical image stabilizer, xenon flash and 6-element Carl Zeiss lens. It comes in Black, Yellow and White and also supports 4G LTE. If you need more information, check out the Nokia Lumia 1020 site.

  • Nokia event announced for 22 October 2013, Lumia 1520 coming soon?

Nokia event announced for 22 October 2013, Lumia 1520 coming soon?

Nokia recently announced that it would be holding an event on 22 October 2013. Announced on their Twitter feed, the accompanying image doesn't really reveal much except for some hashtags such as "#blazing", "#stories" and "#innovationreinvented". The image itself shows sand skiers in a desert which seems a bit odd if this event is for the Nokia Sirius Windows RT tablet. Instead, it could just barely fit with the upcoming Nokia Lumia 1520 which is the rumoured phablet formerly known as Bandit. Perhaps it could come with a new Nokia Maps update or have a rugged casing accessory. As a refresher, the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet may have tech specs or features like a 6-inch screen, 20MP PureView camera, Optical Image Stabilization and Carl Zeiss lens. No news on pricing or Malaysia release dates just yet but we should know everything in about 1 month or so.

  • Rumours: Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet image leaked

Rumours: Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet image leaked

The Nokia Lumia 1520 recently made an appearance in several live shots along with a press render showing off the Nokia phablet in all it's extra Windows Phone 8 column glory. In the live shots on the other hand, the phablet looks to be placed side by side with a Sony Xperia Z perhaps to compare thinness. Overall, the rather extended camera hump doesn't seem to get in the way of things too much. While it supposedly packs in a 6-inch Full HD 1080p screen, it still looks holdable within one hand. Other expected tech specs for the smartphones include a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage. The images also seem to confirm a PureView camera sensor with ZEISS lens. Check out the pics in the article.

  • Microsoft buys Nokia, gets everything including Asha, Lumia and patents

Microsoft buys Nokia, gets everything including Asha, Lumia and patents

We said it would happen and it has as Microsoft recently acquired Nokia for $7.17 billion (RM23.6 billion). The deal covers Nokia's Devices and Services along with the right to license Nokia's various phone patents. According to Microsoft, they will get the cash from overseas resources and close the deal by Q1 of 2014. Nokia are getting something out of it as well as Stephan Elop, Nokia CEO will get to lead the Microsoft Devices team where the rest of Nokia's employees will join him. The current head, Julie Larson-Green will focus instead on the Xbox and Surface devices. While this could result in a Microsoft Nokia Lumia Windows Phone, Microsoft have said that they will be keeping things short, so you can probably expect Microsoft Lumias and Ashas to hit the shelves soon. With Steve Balmer's impending retirement on the horizon, Stephan Elop looks like the most promising candidate for next head of Microsoft but it also means that he needs to step up Microsoft's new phone business, which looks more and more difficult with Nokia's resulting drop in share price. So far no news on when we'll all be using Microsoft Asha or Lumia phones but expect things to start shaking up here in Malaysia as these two gigantic companies shift gears. Microsoft will still support other Windows Phone partners like HTC and Samsung.

  • Rumours: 5.2-inch Nokia Lumia 825 coming soon?

Rumours: 5.2-inch Nokia Lumia 825 coming soon?

What was BIG before won't necessarily be BIG the next month as rumours indicate a 5.2-inch Nokia Lumia 825 may be making it's way to market soon. Previously, the Nokia Lumia 625 broke the size barrier for Nokia Lumia smartphones by offering a 4.7-inch screen (and not much else) but this new 5.2-inch Nokia Lumia 825 brings it into phablet territory. Other tech specs for the Nokia Lumia 825 so far include a 1.2GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and the aforementioned 5.2-inch screen (720p). Clearly the device is aimed at the midrange with these specs and it is estimated to make an appearance in October 2013. No news about pricing or when it would reach Malaysia but this should be made clear soon, so stay tuned while we keep you posted as to any new developments.

According to Gary Chan, Head of Marketing for Nokia Pan Asia, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is likely to arrive in Malaysia in Q4 of 2013. • Rumours: 6-inch Nokia Phablet Front panel appears

Rumours: 6-inch Nokia Phablet Front panel appears

Rumours that Nokia is working on a phablet have been going about since the beginning of the year. While there have been a number of leaks, from side by side pictures to possible naming conventions (Bendit?) the most recent picture to surface looks like the front panel of the phablet from what looks to be a factory floor (supposedly in China). The picture confirms that it will be another 6-inch monster with super-thin bezels but rumours have it being named as the Nokia Lumia 1030, which could indicate a possible oversized camera hump much like the recently released Nokia Lumia 1020.

  • Celcom offers Nokia Lumia 920 from RM1198

Celcom offers Nokia Lumia 920 from RM1198

With the Nokia Lumia 1020 out and the Nokia Lumia 925 on the way to Malaysia, it was just a matter of time before some telco offered the Nokia Lumia 920 at subsidized prices. Celcom is now offering the Nokia Lumia 920 from as low as RM1198. As usual it is on contract with one of the Celcom First plans plus a Mobile Internet plan. Thankfully, the contracts are available for 12 months and 18 months but you will have to pay an extra advance payment which will be rebated later on.
