Initially, the Nokia X was supposed to be revealed on 27 April 2018 according to earlier reports, but that didn't really happen so I guess you can say that we all have been misled. However, we got some new information about its tech-specs thanks to an online promo poster and it looks quite good.

After Microsoft practically killed off every other Nokia phone not running Windows Phone, it seems that new Nokia devices made entirely by Nokia could be coming soon. This comes from hiring ads for those who would be capable of designing a new Android smartphone. This rumour has more or less been confirmed by Sebastian Nyström, Senior Vice President of Strategy who has confirmed that Nokia is currently developing new products and therefore needs some more talent to help develop it. No confirmed tech specs or features yet, but we expect that when they do come, these new Nokia devices will be powered by Android and have a renewed focus on the cameraphone. Nokia still owns a number of phone patents and HERE maps so it could very well happen, unless Microsoft get antsy about it. No Malaysia release dates or pricing just yet but let's just hope that Nokia do a better job than their previous Nokia X range of Android smartphones.

The Nokia XL is the bigger brother in the range of Nokia X smartphones designed to bring the Windows Phone experience to the masses through an Android smartphone. Microsoft recently announced the Nokia X2 smartphone, picking up from the Nokia X Android powered smartphone that was released just 4 months ago. Offering the a translucent plastic layer around the existing colourful polycarbonate along with slightly upgraded tech specs. This includes a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, up to 32GB microSD support, a 4.3-inch ClearBlack LCD display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 5MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus, VGA front camera and a removable 1800 mah battery. Instead of just a capacitive back key on the front, there is now also a home key as well.

The Nokia X is Nokia's Android powered smartphone for the masses with a retail price of RM399. Therefore, it makes sense that Celcom is now offering the Nokia X for FREE provided you sign up for the Celcom First Data plan under a 24-month contract. Normally, the Celcom First Data plan is more suitable for tablets and not smartphones, but Celcom has provided voice, SMS and MMS features appropriate for a smartphone as well. The good part is that you get 4GB of data per month, which is much more than a usual lower-end post-paid smartphone plan. While the Nokia X may look like a Windows phone, complete with a seemingly similar LiveTiles interface, the operating system is undoubtedly Android. Based off of Android 4.1, all of the official apps are available on the Nokia Store, but as mentioned before, you can install Android Apps. According to Nokia, you can do this through third-party markets, and like any other Android device you can also download or transfer the apps .apk file and install it directly. Here is a short guide on how to do that. All you have to do is follow these steps:

1. Download or transfer the .apk file to the Nokia X or microSD card
2. Open your file manager
3. Find the .apk file of the app you want to install
4. Tap on the .apk file
5. Tap install

As reported earlier, the Nokia X has reached Malaysia with a launching today for the first of Nokia's Android-powered smartphones. Priced at RM399, the Nokia X targets the entry-level to midrange with the aim to bridge the gap between the Nokia Asha featurephones and the Nokia Lumia smartphones. Tech specs and features for the Nokia X include a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage + 32GB microSD, a 4-inch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, a 3MP rear camera and dual-SIM support. The design looks like a standard Lumia or Nokia Asha 500 but what is making most users excited is the fact that you can use Android apps, Nokia Apps and Microsoft services from a single device. That being said, the Nokia X gets all of it's officially supported apps from the Nokia Store, but you can download and install Android apps without too much trouble. The recently announced Nokia X range of smartphones offers users a unique mix of Nokia and windows Phone apps with the ability to run Android apps. When it first came out, Microsoft set it so that while you could sideload an Android app, all the official apps would be accessible via the Nokia Store. This meant that you couldn't access the Google Play store or use certain Google services like Google Now. The resourceful folks at XDA Developers have got around this by rooting the device, even offering a guide on how to do it. While Nokia have not condemned this, it could void your warranty, so be careful what you do when the Nokia X and Nokia XL make their arrival in Malaysia on 5 March 2014.

Nokia recently confirmed and announced a range of Android powered Nokia smartphones in the form of the Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL. This new smartphone range is targeted at bridging the gap between the Nokia Asha featurephone lineup and the Nokia Lumia range of smartphones. Utilizing a forked version of Android, the Nokia X lineup of smartphones can run up to 75% of Android apps while also running Nokia's apps. Apps are officially from the Nokia store but you can get it from a third-party market or download the APK and side-load it. The interface is very much like a tile-based Android while the overall design looks a lot like the Nokia Asha 500 range of featurephones right down to the colourful polycarbonate backside. If you've been wondering whether the Android powered Nokia smartphone will be called the Nokia X or the Nokia Normandy then perhaps you can rest assured now. Serial leaker @evleaks has just come out with a leaked press image showing the smartphone with the branding Nokia X, confirming the name at least. Tech specs which haven't been confirmed yet are expected to include a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4-inch display, 5MP rear camera, dual-SIM support and 1500 mAh battery. While there isn't any news on Malaysia pricing or release dates yet, the Nokia X is expected in March 2014 and should be headed to the entry-level to mid-range market.
