New entry-level Nokia smartphone could be coming soon

With how flooded the smartphone market is these days, famous brands have found themselves struggling to compete. Nokia hasn't been all that active after the big announcements for MWC, but a few new models are expected to launch in the coming months. One of them should be a new lower mid-range model, which was recently spotted on TENAA.

Nope, Nokia is not making any smartphones for now

Rumours about a new Nokia smartphone or phone have been cropping up recently, but Nokia have put those rumours to rest by releasing an official statement denying that they have plans to do so. This coincides with their current deal with Microsoft as Nokia is not allowed to launch any phone or handset with it's name or branding until Q2 of 2016. Check out the full Nokia statement below:

Nokia notes recent news reports claiming the company communicated an intention to manufacture consumer handsets out of a R&D facility in China. These reports are false, and include comments incorrectly attributed to a Nokia Networks executive. Nokia reiterates it currently has no plans to manufacture or sell consumer handsets.

Do note however that this does not include any new Nokia tablets or other devices, so we should be able to expect perhaps a Nokia N2 tablet or other mobile device in the near future.

Rumours: New Nokia devices coming soon?

After Microsoft practically killed off every other Nokia phone not running Windows Phone, it seems that new Nokia devices made entirely by Nokia could be coming soon. This comes from hiring ads for those who would be capable of designing a new Android smartphone. This rumour has more or less been confirmed by Sebastian Nyström, Senior Vice President of Strategy who has confirmed that Nokia is currently developing new products and therefore needs some more talent to help develop it. No confirmed tech specs or features yet, but we expect that when they do come, these new Nokia devices will be powered by Android and have a renewed focus on the cameraphone. Nokia still owns a number of phone patents and HERE maps so it could very well happen, unless Microsoft get antsy about it. No Malaysia release dates or pricing just yet but let's just hope that Nokia do a better job than their previous Nokia X range of Android smartphones.
