U Mobile now offering OPPO Neo 5 on postpaid and OPPO Joy on prepaid

It has been some time since OPPO came to Malaysia but it looks like they are finally warming up to Malaysia's telcos with some new bundles from U Mobile. For now, the first two devices will be the entry-level OPPO Neo 5 and OPPO Joy. U Mobile has the Neo 5 available at RM598 on a postpaid plan while the OPPO Joy is going for RM348 on a prepaid plan. Benefits includes a free 6-month U58 subscription for the Neo 5 but you have to sign up for a 24 month contract. The OPPO Joy gets a free SIM pack, free RM20 top-up voucher and 4 months worth of free Internet on a contract-free prepaid plan. There are conditions for the prepaid freebies though as you will only get the free Internet if you keep the line active (make sure you have enough airtime). However, after the four months of free Internet are up, U Mobile will also throw in 250MB worth of free Internet for every RM30 top up. Check out the tables and links in this article for more details.

OPPO Neo 5 with 4G LTE coming to Malaysia soon

While it hasn't been officially announced yet, OPPO Malaysia could be bringing the OPPO Neo 5 smartphone into Malaysia soon. The device has appeared at the OPPO Mobile Malaysia site and while the tech specs are more or less the same as the previous OPPO Neo smartphone, the new OPPO Neo 5 will offer 4G LTE. What is even more interesting is that the OPPO Neo 5 is set to be one of the most affordable 4G LTE smartphones in Malaysia, especially as it will be priced at RM598. While you can check our earlier review of the OPPO Neo, the tech specs for the OPPO Neo 5 are decidedly entry-level to midrange with a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB storage, 4.5-inch display with 854 x 480 pixel resolution, 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and 1900 mAh battery. It will come with Android 4.3 and OPPO's gesture based ColorOS. While there are still no specific Malaysia release dates, we expect the OPPO Neo 5 to come as soon as next week.
