For OnePlus, the journey to build its very own smartwatch allegedly started a few years ago. The company had plans to unveil it back in 2016, but things didn't pan out then and it may have been postponed again. Moreover, the latest rumour could hint at why it's taking so long.

As you know, OnePlus is one of those brands with more of a focus on smartphones only. The company did try to develop a smartwatch a few years back but scrapped the idea eventually. However, it seems that the folks at OnePlus may have been working on a new smartwatch for the past year or so.
