Back at the end of March, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced a global PlayStation 5 price hike starting in April 2026, including Malaysia. That day has come today, as the company has officially confirmed a new round of price adjustments for its PlayStation hardware, affecting multiple regions in Southeast Asia.

In case you missed it, Sony officially confirmed a new round of price increases for its PlayStation hardware lineup, impacting the PlayStation 5 family and the PlayStation Portal remote player. The changes were announced via the official PlayStation Blog and will take effect globally beginning 2 April 2026.

Merdeka Day is just around the corner and as always, you will see plenty of products going on sale. Although it's not the first time for Sony Entertainment Interactive Asia to do this, the PlayStation 5 models that are on sale this time are the slim variants.

The PlayStation 5 sales are looking to be another successful product. According to BusinessWire, the PS5 has been sold over 50 million times since its debut in November 2020. While it started scarcely any thanks to scalpers, the issue is long gone and continues to thrive, especially this year. 

When it comes to streaming games, they can be usually found on Twitch and Discord in the PC community instead of on consoles. However, Sony is going to change that as it announces cloud streaming for the PlayStation 5. 

In conjunction with the upcoming Merdeka Day this month, Sony Interactive Entertainment just announced its Merdeka Sale for the PlayStation 5 console, games and other accessories. It will begin tomorrow (18 August) and ends on the national day of Malaysia. 

When Sony took the stage at the CES 2023, Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment announced some good news. At the 57-minute mark in the press conference video here, he said getting a PlayStation 5 (PS5) should be much easier now.

It has been over two years since the Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) was released, but thanks to scalpers and chip shortages, the gaming console hasn't been easy to get until this day. That said, we may have a hint of its following lineup as Hideaki Nishino, Vice-President Senior of Sony may have hinted at a possibility of a PS5 Pro.

Back in a few months ago, Sony was very upfront against third-party sellers on customising the PlayStation 5 cover. While the company did succeed in winning legal rights, there are still some more third-party sellers doing the same thing by going around a loophole.

Finally, after a month of announcing the Sony PlayStation 5 availability in Malaysia, the next-gen gaming console will officially launch tomorrow as advertised. The PS5 proved to be popular as pre-order units got sold out very quickly and Sony Malaysia would like to remind everyone that there won't be any units available for in-store purchase.
