Samsung Galaxy A series coming to Malaysia on 8 January 2015

Samsung Malaysia will be bringing in their Samsung Galaxy A series of smartphone to Malaysia on 8 January 2015 as they have already sent out save-the-date invites. While they didn't mention specific models, the Samsung Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 are expected to arrive ahead of the Galaxy A7. Bearing a similar thin metal frame design with the Galaxy Alpha smartphone, the new Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 are aimed at the young and trendy. • The Samsung Galaxy A7 measures in at 6.3mm thin at TENAA

The Samsung Galaxy A7 measures in at 6.3mm thin at TENAA

The Samsung Galaxy A7 has just passed the Chinese Telecommunication Equipment Certification Agency, TENAA which means that it may soon be announced in China. The Galaxy A7 is a part of Samsung's recently established 'A' series which also includes the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5. According to the TENAA page, the device will be the thinnest smartphone from Samsung at just 6.3mm in thickness which makes it even thinner than the recently announced A5 which measures in at 6.7mm. The tech specs of the device are pretty impressive with a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage which is not expandable. On the front, there is a large 5.5 inch 1080p display. The rear camera measures in at 13MP while the front camera is at 5MP. The phone supports high speed 4G LTE networks and runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS. While we expect a Malaysia release of the device, the one that hit TENAA had the model number SM-A7009, which is probably the Chinese variant of the device. Malaysia pricing and availability will be updated once the device is officially announced by Samsung.

Samsung leaks Samsung Galaxy A7 tech specs

It happens quite often these days that upcoming smartphones accidentally get revealed by their own website and this seems to be the case with the Samsung Galaxy A7. While we still don't know how it looks like, leaked images of the Galaxy A3 suggest that it will share features with the metal-body Galaxy Alpha. The leaked tech specs for the Galaxy A7 include a 1.5GHz 64-bit processor and a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. We assume that it will come out with Android 5.0 Lolipop but asides from that there's little else in terms of details. No Malaysia release dates or pricing but we expect it to be a bit lower than the Galaxy Alpha (which is RM1899) perhaps at RM1799 or so. Stay tuned for more developments.
