  • Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Note 4 first Gorilla Glass 4 equipped smartphones

Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Note 4 first Gorilla Glass 4 equipped smartphones

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4 will reportedly be the first smartphones in the market to feature Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The latest generation of Gorilla Glass will be 2x times drop resistant as compared to the previous versions which means it can withstand drops around 80% of the time. Corning's experts studied over hundreds of broken devices to understand why the glass breaks after a fall. The results of the study indicate that over 70 percent of breakage occurs due to the surface contact with glass. In order to avoid this, the company made its latest Gorilla Glass 4 almost two times tougher. At the same time, the company managed to reduce the glass's thickness as compared to its previous generations. With this extra thin protective glass, Samsung managed to reduce the thickness of its Galaxy Alpha smartphone to just 7mm. The metal build coupled with the Gorilla Glass 4 protection makes the device sturdy and durable in spite of its thin profile. As for the tech specs, it features Samsung's Exynos 5 chipset with 4G LTE support, 4.7 inch Super AMOLED display, 13MP rear camera, 2.1MP secondary camera and 1860mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is available for purchase in Malaysia for RM1899 while the Galaxy Note 4 is going for RM2499.

DiGi opens registration of interest for Samsung Galaxy Note 4, coming to Malaysia soon?

DiGi seems to know something we don't and that involves when exactly the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is coming to Malaysia. Already, they've opened up a registration of interest page for the Galaxy Note 4. As usual, you'll be required to list out all your contacts and particulars but it is interesting to note that we could be seeing the Galaxy Note 4 in black, gold and white, instead of just the traditional black and white. The page does not mention any other tech specs but it should still pack in the usual features of Exynos 5433 (N910C) processor to go with the 3GB RAM, 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with 2K resolution and 16MP ISOCELL rear camera. If you're interested in hooking up with a DiGi postpaid plan bundle along with the Galaxy Note 4 then do check out the DiGi site.

Exactly as it's name suggests, one side of the display is bent at an angle and is a fully functional Super AMOLED touchscreen. Apart from that, other tech specs and features are more or less the same as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, right down to the S Pen and better looking artificial leather backside. The single edge touchscreen on the side does make it feel a bit lopsided and it also raises the question of whether it is made for left-handed or right handed people, but overall the design is very premium looking. Tech specs and features for the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge include:

Samsung releases another teaser trailer for Galaxy Note 4

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is just a week away from it's official announcement, so Samsung have started increasing the hype by releasing trailers of the phablet in action. We've already seen one highlighting the S Pen's writing and note taking capabilities, so it makes sense that one showing it's other uses would come up as well. It appears that the S Pen is still as accurate as before and you can do everything from photo editing to playing games with it. Older features like the Air Command menu are still there as well but we've yet to see anything new just yet. Perhaps it is more of a hardware refresh than a feature refresh, but we should find out more as soon as next week. In the meantime, do check out the video for yourself.
