After dropping the bundle pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S5 down to RM1199 with the Raya for Gaya promotion, Maxis are now offering a trade-in program as well for the Galaxy S5. Like the Apple iPhone 5S trade-in program, you can trade-in any phone but certain smartphones will get better discounts. The highest discount is with the Apple iPhone 5 which gives you a discount of RM1000, effectively lowering the price down to RM199. In accordance with the retail price drop of the Samsung Galaxy S5 from RM2399 to RM2149, Maxis are now offering the smartphone at lower priced bundle deals. While you do get the smartphone under the new MaxisONE plans, you still have to sign up for a 24-month contract. The Maxis ONEplan aims to offer a simple to understand and follow post-paid plan for new and existing Maxis users. Seeking to maintain this simplicity with their device bundles, Maxis have set the advance payment of a device retailing above RM400 to four months charge of either the ONEplan or ONEplan Lite while a device retailing below RM400 is only charged two months of either the ONEplan or ONEplan Lite plans. All advance payments are rebated into the customer's bills and loyal customers with more than 12 months on Maxis and who have a good credit record won't have to make these advance payments. So far, the device list includes the HTC One (M8), Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, HTC One (M7), Sony Xperia M2, Samsung Galaxy Ace 3, Huawei Ascend Y530 and the Xiaomi Mi 3. DiGi is now running roadshows this weekend at couple of places where they are offering the Samsung Galaxy S5 for RM999. You have to sign up for DG Smart Plan 108 & a supplementary line in order to enjoy it. For standard DG Smart Plan 108 alone, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is normally offered at RM1,399. It is RM400 off provided if you get an extra sub-line under your account.

Going for a pre-order of the just locally released Samsung Galaxy S5, DiGi are now offering the smartphone from RM1199 on pre-order. Retailing at RM2399, the smartphone does cost quite a bit, so a discount past 50% is quite welcome, especially if you're planning to use a DG SmartPlan. Balancing out the lower price is the fact that you are limited to a 24 months contract but you'll still get the smartphone from 11 April 2014. The DiGi pre-order will end on 10 April 2014 and for some added value DiGi are also offering 9GB of data free for the 3 months after 19 April 2014. With the Samsung Galaxy S5 well and launched here in Malaysia, Maxis is one of the first of the major telcos to come out with pre-order bundles for the smartphone. You can now get the Galaxy S5 from RM1399 (retail pricing is at RM2399) once you sign up for a TalkMore or SurfMore postpaid plan. Maxis are offering both 12 months and 24 months contracts which should be great for those who don't like to be tied to a contract for too long. However, there is one downside, the preorder is only for those subscribing to get a new number. Existing Maxis customers will have to wait a while longer with the next pre-order expected on 3 April 2014 (which isn't all that long actually).
