  • Samsung Galaxy Alpha coming to Malaysia soon

Samsung Galaxy Alpha coming to Malaysia soon

The just announced metal frame Samsung Galaxy Alpha could well be on the way to Malaysia in record time. This comes from a listing of the SM-G850F, which is the model number for the Galaxy Alpha, at the SIRIM database. The listing shows a number of tech specs and also confirms that the model we will be getting here in Malaysia will have 4G LTE connectivity. Other recently confirmed tech specs include the fact that the 12MP rear camera uses a Samsung ISOCELL camera sensor, and therefore, should be able to deliver similar performance with the 16MP ISOCELL sensor on the Samsung Galaxy S5. We still don't have any details on the exact Malaysia release date or pricing but we expect the Malaysia release of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha to be within a month from this date based on the previous release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and Galaxy Tab S 8.4.

  • Metal-frame Samsung Galaxy Alpha officially announced

Metal-frame Samsung Galaxy Alpha officially announced

Samsung fans have waited a long time for a semi-premium smartphone made from metal, and Samsung have finally given in by officially announcing the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Rumoured to be the Samsung smartphone with the brushed metal backside, this appears to be still a rumour as only the frame is solid metal, but it does a lot to making the phone feel more premium. The Galaxy Alpha should now have less flex and feel a lot more sturdy compared to the larger and thicker yet more plastic build of the Samsung Galaxy S5. The perforated design on the back casing remains the same though just as the back material is also still plastic. Ironically, the Galaxy Alpha is much lighter at 115g and super thin at just 6.7mm. Check out the full tech specs and feature list for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha below:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 now available at U Mobile from RM1269

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 now available at U Mobile from RM1269

Samsung's latest premium tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is now available from U Mobile starting from just RM1269. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has a retail price of RM1699 so there isn't that much of a price drop, however you will only have to sign up for a 12 month contract on either an Unlimited 50 or Unlimited 80 postpaid plan. In addition, there is no upfront payment if you qualify for the Limited Time Merdeka Promotion, which means you have to sign up for an extra SIM card for RM10 a month. This means one account must have 1 principal and 1 member. This deal is available until 30 September 2014 and you also get some pretty good freebies, such as an exclusive tablet cover and a 3 months free subscription to UCare Plus 8 if you sign up for the Unlimited 80 postpaid plan. • Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 appears in China, coming to Malaysia soon?

Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 appears in China, coming to Malaysia soon?

The successor to the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 has appeared with the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2. The 5.98-inch phablet was recently spotted at China's Tenaa revealing pics and tech specs. These tech specs and features include a 64-bit 1.2GHz Qualcomm snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB RAM, 8GB storage with support for microSD flash memory, a 5.98-inch display with 120 x 1280 pixel resolution, 13MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front camera and Android 4.4 KitKat. Since it is coming out for China it supports TD-LTE which is the 4G LTE version in China. The phablet measures in at 163.6 x 84.9 x 8.6mm which is quite large despite having fairly thin bezels and an artifical leather backside. No specific Malaysia release dates or pricing yet, but if it is already out in China, it should be here in Malaysia soon.

  • Rumours: Samsung testing wrap-around YOUM display smartphone?

Rumours: Samsung testing wrap-around YOUM display smartphone?

For quite some time now, Samsung has been rumoured to be making a smartphone with a wrap-around display. This comes from it's flexible YOUM display and patents of such a wrap-around device which technically would make it an edge-to-edge smartphone with no bezels. According to reports from Korea, Samsung has begun testing such a device thanks to news from component suppliers. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has been rumoured to be this smartphone, however, do take such a rumour with a good pinch of salt as it seems like too much of a big change for the phablet. Instead it would be more likely to be the Samsung Galaxy Round 2 based off of the previous curved screen device, the Samsung Galaxy Round. The timing does coincide with previously leaked roadmaps for flexible displays though so we're still hopeful somewhat. In the meantime, check out the previous wrap-around patent images on how the next flexible display smartphone from Samsung could look like.

  • Rumours: more metal body Samsung Galaxy Alpha pics leaked

Rumours: more metal body Samsung Galaxy Alpha pics leaked

More pictures of the metal body Samsung Galaxy Alpha have appeared and this time they are quite clear. The pictures reveal a fairly standard design with a matte white backside. No sign of any brushed metal back cover as shown in previous press renders but the sides reveal a flat and thin design very similar to an Apple iPhone 5s. Tech specs and features have yet to be confirmed but rumours indicate that they will be midrange. Further tech spec details include an octa-core Samsung Exynos 5433 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, 4.8-inch display with 720p pixel resolution, 12MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and Android 4.4.4. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details just yet, but it could likely be unveiled at the upcoming Samsung UNPACKED 2014 event alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on 3 September 2014. Check out the pictures for yourself below.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 coming on 3 September 2014 at UNPACKED 2014

Confirming earlier rumours, Samsung has just sent out invites for an UNPACKED 2014 event right before IFA 2014 where they will unveil the new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 phablet. Tech specs still have not been confirmed for the Galaxy Note 4 but many are thinking it may offer a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM, 5.7-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, 16MP camera with OIS, an ultraviolet sensor and Andoid 4.4 KitKat. We're still hoping that the RAM could get an increase to 4GB but this seems unlikely now. Other devices are also expected including the metal-body Samsung Galaxy Alpha and more (including some new wearable devices). No news on Malaysia release dates or pricing yet but we should find out in another month so stay tuned for more developments.

  • Rumours: Metal-body Samsung Galaxy Alpha coming on 4 August 2014?

Rumours: Metal-body Samsung Galaxy Alpha coming on 4 August 2014?

Despite it's standing as one of the top smartphone makers in the world, almost none of Samsung's smartphones have a complete metal body. While the rumours of a metal-body Samsung flagship smartphone have yet to die down, it appears that there are rumours about the first all-metal Samsung smartphone actually being a midrange model going by the name of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha or otherwise known as the Samsung Galaxy S5 Alpha or even the Samsung Galaxy F. Reportedly coming on 4 August 2014 tech specs for the Galaxy Alpha include a 4.8-inch 720p display, 32GB storage and fingerprint scanner (likely built into the home button). No news yet on Malaysia release dates or pricing but we should be able to find out more by next week at least. In the meantime, do check out these leaked pics of the smartphone next to the Samsung Galaxy S5.
