    Samsung shipped two-times more smartphones than Apple last quarter

    According to the research firm TrendForce, their findings shows that Samsung has shipped twice as many smartphones than its nearest rival, Apple. The numbers shows that the Korean company has dominated the market, grabbing over a quarter of the marketshare worldwide.

    Just before the weekend last week, Samsung Malaysia Electronics held a 3S Smart Service contest for its service centre (SVCs) and call centre (CCC) staffs nationwide. The 3S represents Samsung’s customer service philosophy and motto, which are speed, solution and satisfaction.

    The purpose of the contest was to serve as an ideal platform for customer service officers to improve their customer service skills, product and technical knowledge to continuously strive and to respond to the customers’ needs with top class quality services .

    If you’re a Samsung or LG fan and hoping that they will include 4K display on their smartphones in the future, well it’s not going to happen. And it’s not that they don’t know how to do that, but both of the big giants have decided to pass that...at least according to a Korean publication source. 

    We don’t know if that’s true or not, since neither Samsung and LG officially stated that. But one of the reasons for adopting the 4K display for their smartphones is because the market for it seems too niche at the moment, and they would prefer to focus more on improvising the power draw and outdoor visibility of their current display lines (the 1440p panels).

    Samsung Electronics has managed to maintain its position as the highest ranking HDTV manufacturer for the 2015 J.D. Power HDTV Satisfaction Report in the 50-inch and 50-inches or below for the second year in a row. J.D. Power surveyed more than 3750 consumers who purchased a HDTV in the past 12 months to arrive at these rankings. Satisfaction is measured on a scale of 1000 based on eight factors: overall satisfaction, performance, reliability, ease of operation, style/appearance, features, warranty and price. According to the study, Samsung ranked highest in the 50-inches and above category with a score of 871 and highest in the 50-inches and below category with a score of 856. In both categories, the brand ranked highest for overall satisfaction, performance, reliability, style and appearance, features and warranty. Leveraging years of expertise in the home entertainment space, and taking into account the voice of market and customer needs, Samsung continues to elevate the viewing experience for consumers with its new SUHD TVs.     Samsung Malaysia recently announced that their various Samsung device users can now get RM20 off taxi fare for Easy Taxi up to three times through the Samsung Galaxy Life app. The offer should be available throughout January 2015 so there are at least another 7 days or so to get this offer. The Samsung Galaxy Life app is available most Samsung Galaxy devices including smartphones and tablets. The Galaxy Life platform offers various offers, coupons, vouchers and value-added tie-ins with other brands and services in Malaysia.

    Samsung Malaysia starts Gear Fit Gym Challenge to win Samsung Gear Fit smartband

    Samsung Malaysia has started a new fitness promotion with their Gear Fit Gym Challenge. Available at selected Celebrity Fitness and Fitness First gyms, the challenge will run from 16 June 2014 to 27 August. The challenge will be open to gym members and involve completing a 5km run on a treadmill within 30 minutes, with the challenger who gets the shortest time winning a Samsung Gear Fit smartband. Challengers will put on a Gear Fit smartband, take the run and see their scores posted on the leaderboard. The challenger who gets the best time at the end of the challenge period will win the smartband. According to Samsung Malaysia, the Galaxy 11 World Tour takes place in only 10 countries of the world, with Malaysia being one of them. Users will also get the opportunity to trade in any pre-owned mobile phone for a brand new GALAXY S5. A cash voucher equal to the value of the pre-owned mobile phone will be given along with an additional RM200 voucher for massive value.

The Galaxy Life app is Samsung’s consumer loyalty platform in a mobile app form, and offers special deals to users on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.     Coming direct from Samsung Malaysia themselves, Samsung will be holding a pre-order period for their Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone from 28 March 2014 to 10 April 2014. To preorder, find a Samsung Elite Partner or go to a participating Celcom, DiGi or Maxis Centre. Samsung Malaysia have confirmed that the Malaysia pricing for the pre-order will be set at RM2399 without any bundled Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 or Gear 2 Neo smartwatch. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be available on 11 April 2014 here in Malaysia.

    Samsung Malaysia has recently indicated that their latest Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone is coming to Malaysia as soon as 27 March 2014. This follows the teasers done by all the major telcos in Malaysia like DiGi, Celcom and Maxis and it is also ahead of the 11 April 2014 international roll-out date. While there aren't any other details, we expect the Samsung Galaxy S5 to be launched simultaneously by all three major telcos either on the same date or a day or so afterwards. We're expecting a rather big launch for each telco with big deals for the first-comers and early birds so keep 27 March 2014 and the days after open on your calendar. While there isn't any official pricing just yet, some local sites are estimating that it could go for RM2399.
