It was long rumored that Samsung will unveil a new Tizen based low-end smartphone soon. Looks like the rumors were right indeed, as earlier this week, the company took the wraps off its Samsung Z1smartphone which runs on its home grown Tizen OS. It's low-end placement puts it in direct competition with Google's Android One range of smartphones. As for the tech specs, the Z1 features a 1.2GHz dual-core Spreadtrum SC7727S processor with Mali 400 GPU. There will be 768MB RAM onboard with 4GB of expandable internal storage. The phone will have a 4-inch WVGA display up front. As for the camera, there will be a 3.1MP rear shooter and a VGA front shooter. Like mentioned above, the device will run on Samsung's Tizen OS 2.3. Other tech specs include a 1500 mAh battery, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G. The Tizen based phone also comes with a number of additional features. This includes Anti-Virus protection, Ultra Power Saving Mode, free music for three months, free data with several carriers and SOS alerts too. The Samsung Z1 will be available in White, Red Wine, and Black colors for a price tag of $92 (RM327). No Malaysia release dates or pricing details have been revealed as of yet.
