By now, we've all seen the paper thin tablets that came out of CES 2013, but some people haven't just been watching, but actively working on taking these concepts to the next level. The same team who brought us the PaperTab from CES 2013 have been hard at work to create the MorePhone which is a paper thin smartphone that curls up when it receives a call or notification. Rather than vibrate, the MorePhone morphs, curling or bending depending on what alert or notification you receive.

Smartphones have come a long way in so little time, so much so that their design are also influencing devices completely outside of their scope. One of these devices is the HP Prime, a scientific graphing calculator which looks alarmingly similar to a smartphone and even packs in a 3.5-inch colour touchscreen with brushed metal chassis and removable li-ion battery.
Apps for more functionality
While it definitely looks good, the HP Prime also packs in various apps for quick and easy access to problem solving solutions that would have normally taken a slide rule and quite a few pieces of paper to go through. Recently Apple decided to use screens from Innolux Corp for its iPad mini touchscreens. While Samsung was originally the one to sever this contract with Apple, it is a telling sign of things to come.

While not having much of hardware pedigree behind it Amazon has done some amazing things with mobile devices, introducing their Kindle Fire tablets and ebook readers. Now, rumour has it that they're working on a 4.7" smartphone (much along the same lines and design as the Samsung Galaxy S III). Like so many other rumours of this kind, this one was sparked from component makers, in this case those dealing with smartphone specific components. So far other specifications are few and far in between and the only concrete news that we have is that the Amazon smartphone will probably feature the aforementioned 4.7" screen.
