News & Reviews: Sony Xperia Z4 specification
Last Updated: Apr 21, 2015
Sony Mobile has finally and officially launched their latest flagship smartphone with the Sony Xperia Z4. While it retains the same 20.7MP rear camera from previous iterations, it follows in the foot steps of theSamsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, sacrificing it's former IP67 rated water proofing for a more fashionable (and thinner) metal frame. The Xperia Z4 is still splash proof though with IP6 certification for dust and IP5 and IP8 for water. This means that you can still drop it into 1.5 meters of water and have it survive. Other tech specs include a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage + up to 128GB microSD support, a 5.2-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, 5.1MP front camera and 2930 mAh battery. It will come with Android 5.0 right out of the box. A more waterproof Cover Window case lets you see notifications underwater while a new cooking mode feature supposedly helps take better foodie shots. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet, but it is coming out in Japan first in the near future.

MWC is one of the most important events for smartphone manufacturers as it provides a platform for these companies to show off their tech. Samsung and HTC have almost confirmed the launch of their flagship devices, but we haven't heard much about Sony's own Sony Xperia Z4 flagship. Some even say considering the lack of information and leaks about the device, the company may not announce it at the event. However, a recent leak from Weibo says otherwise. The leak reveals the front panel of a device which it claims is the upcoming Sony flagship. The phone does have the traditional Sony branding on top and the design looks more or less like the existing Xperia Z3. From the images, it looks like the bezels have become much thinner and the front camera and sensors have swapped places. The camera now lies on the left side and the sensor on the right. As for the tech specs, the Xperia Z4 is expected to come with the latest Snapdragon 810 processor along with 4GB of RAM. The phone may feature a 5.5-inch 2K display, 20.7MP rear camera, 4.8MP front facing wide-angle camera and a 3420 mAh battery. Sony will most likely unveil the device at MWC 2015, so stay tuned for more updates.

Although both Sony Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z4 Ultra are expected to be announced only in January at CES 2015, we have already come across the tech specs of these devices. Latest rumors suggest that the Xperia Z4 features a 5.4 inch Quad HD Triluminous display along with the powerful Snapdragon 805 SoC. There will be 4GB RAM onboard and a 20.7MP camera at the back. While the resolution remains the same as the Xperia Z3, the rear camera features a new sensor, quite possibly the Sony IMX230. The company will also upgrade the front camera to a 4.8MP wide angle sensor, which makes the device more selfie friendly. It is said that the Z4 will come with 3420 mAh sized battery.
