While it wasn't the first water-proof smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S5 does carry one of the higher water-resistant certifications around. Featuring an IP67 certification this is higher than some Sony Xperia smartphones, which originally started the trend, however, the official certification states that it can survive for up to 30 minutes under water at a depth of 1 meter. Wanting to test this out, Mobile-Review have dunked the Samsung Galaxy S5 in a 1 meter deep aquarium for a little bit more than 10 minutes. During that time the smartphone not only maintained a connection with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch it was paired with, it also received calls with no visible problems. Coming out of the water it also seemed just fine, proving that yes, you can bring the Samsung Galaxy S5 to the pool next time. Like other water-resistant smartphones, the key here is to make sure that all the seals have been placed tightly and neatly as you can still brick a water-proof smartphone if you don't seal it properly. Check out the video for yourself.

It isn't a secret that Malaysia will be seeing the Sony Xperia Z2, Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and Sony Xperia M2 smartphones soon. However, up until now, we've still been in the dark about pricing, but this could have been revealed in an online brochure for the UOB Bank online store UOB InStore. The listings state that the Malaysia retail pricing for the Sony xperia Z2 is set at RM2399, while the Xperia T2 Ultra is listed at RM1299. The lower end Sony Xperia M2 is listed at RM999. Of note though is that the listing mentions the pricing of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact at RM1799 despite previous reports that it would retail at RM1699. So far the listings do not mention any exact Malaysia release dates as the devices mentioned are only for pre-order at the UOB InStore for now.

It appears that you can now pre-order the Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet direct from certain Sony Centres here in Malaysia. While Sony Malaysia have yet to make any official announcements on Malaysia release dates for the two devices, you can walk into a Sony Centre and ask. The Sony Centre in Midvalley for example requires that you pay an RM100 deposit along with your contacts and particulars.

The unique Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is finally available in Malaysia with a retail price of RM1699. The Xperia Z1 Compact is unique amongst other 'mini' type smartphones in that it retains more or less the same tech specs and features as the smartphone it originates from, which is the Sony Xperia Z1. The only major differences are the size of the device and screen along with the screen resolution, everything else remains the same so you get a 4.3-inch display smartphone with 20.7MP camera! Sellers at our sister site of MobileMegaMall.com are already offering the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact from RM1615, which should be one of the lower prices in the Malaysian market.

The Sony Xperia Z1 was supposed to have been the culmination of everything good about Sony. It would take the best out of all of Sony's product ranges and put them all into one smartphone, but while this almost came true, the screen suffered from rather poor viewing angles. The tech specs and features have been updated accordingly with the Snapdragon 801 processor and chipset, 3GB of RAM and 4K video recording. But that isn't all, as the Xperia Z2 also offers new stereo speakers with noise cancellation tech built in. Check out the Sony Xperia Z2 tech specs below:
- 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor
- 3GB RAM
- 16GB storage + microSD (64GB)
- 5.2-inch display (Triluminos, LiveColour LED, 108 x 1920 pixel resolution, 424 ppi, shatter + scratch proof glass)
- 20.7MP rear camera (video stabilization, 4K video recording, LED flash)
- 146.8 x 73.3 x 8.2 mm | 163g
- Supports 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, MHL 3, GPS
- 3200 mAh battery
- Android 4.4.2 KitKat

The Sony Xperia Z tablet successor or Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet images recently got leaked with both black and white colour variations. Coming courtesy of serial leaker @evleaks and a newer source called @gadgetleaks, the images show tablet that looks nearly identical with the earlier version. While @evleaks is often correct about most of the stuff leaked there, @gadgetleaks is relatively new but the images from that source also match with the @evleaks image. Be that as it may, do take this with a grain of salt nonetheless.
