Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and T2 Ultra dual officially announced, may be $545 (RM1788)

Filling out their phablet range, Sony has officially anounced the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and Sony Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. Both have huge 6-inch Triluminous displays at 720 x 1280 pixel resolutions with the only major difference being that the T2 Ultra dual has dual-SIM support. Other tech specs and features for the two phablets include a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage + microSD, 13MP rear camera with Exmor RS sensor, 1.1MP front camera with Exmor R sensor, NFC + LTE and a non-removable 3000 mAh battery. The phablet retains the slim monolithic design as the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and looks quite good all in all. While it should eventually reach Malaysia there are still no specific Malaysia release dates. In terms of pricing, the device is said to be going for $545 (RM1788). While the processor isn't as top-notch as the other phablet device in the Sony Xperia range, the bigger screen and exceptional camera should make it a very tempting midrange device. Sony Xperia Z1 Compact finally announced, just as powerful as Z1 only smaller

Most mini versions of smartphones tend to be underpowered with the only similarity being the design. However, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact isn't like other mini smartphones but was rumoured to have all the tech specs and features of the Sony Xperia Z1, just squeezed into a smaller package. Thankfully, this was confirmed to be true when it was announced recently. The still very impressive tech specs for the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact include:

  • Sony QX Lens camera case let's you use QX lens with Xperia Z1 Ultra

Sony QX Lens camera case let's you use QX lens with Xperia Z1 Ultra

Sony's Cybershot DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 wireless lens can improve photography immensely for almost any tablet or smartphone, provided the clip of the frame can fit. Since the clip can only reach 5-inches, this means a lot of larger phablets and tablets won't be able to clip the lens on, and this includes the Sony Xperia Z Ultra phablet. For this reason, Sony have created a QX lens camera case allowing you to clip on either the DSC-QX10 or the DSC-QX100. At first the Sony QX Lens case will only be available in Hong Kong, but it should eventually reach Malaysia. The QX Lens case will be priced at 238 Hong Kong dollars (RM100) which doesn't sound too bad at all.

  • Lytro-like camera appears in Apple patent, refocusing coming to iPhone 6?

Lytro-like camera appears in Apple patent, refocusing coming to iPhone 6?

Seemingly catching up with the rest of the refocusing cameraphone crowd, Apple have recently filed a patent for a camera technology which allows Lytro-like effects. Similar to the refocusing effect in Nokia's PureView cameras and some Sony Xperia cameraphones, the technology basically allows users to take a shot and then refocus it on any point or object in the picture. The technology in Apple's patent is different from Lytro in that it offers a high-resolution non-refocusable mode along with a low-resolution refocusable mode. While the patent is for a new camera sensor, it also covers an add-on version for any existing camera. This could mean we would see it come out for the Apple iPhone 6 or as an accessory for all camera equipped Apple devices.

  • Sony Xperia Z1s (Xperia Z1 mini) images leak

Sony Xperia Z1s (Xperia Z1 mini) images leak

The Sony Xperia Z1s is supposedly the mini international version of Sony's flagship Xperia Z1 cameraphone. What makes it so different from all the other mini smartphones is that while the battery and screen size have been shrunk down to 4.3-inch display sized smartphone, the Xperia Z1s retains most of the hardware that makes the Xperia Z1 such an awesome cameraphone. This includes tech specs like the Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and a 20.7MP camera. Recently, leaked images of the Sony Xperia Z1s have leaked confirming this. While the overall design looks more or less the same as the Z1, the shrink makes the bezels look larger than they really are. The only noticeable change seems to be the Sony brand instead of DoCoMo which came out in the Japan only version. No details on specific Malaysia release dates but we expect the official announcment to come any day now. For now, check out the pics of the Sony Xperia Z1s in this article.
