This week, Samsung was ordered to pay a penalty of $601 million (~RM 2.66 billion) to the Indian government after being found to have evaded paying tariffs on telecommunications equipment brought into the country. Samsung received a warning notice in 2023 after the equipment was sold to local telecommunications company Reliance Jio.

Based on a recent statement by MCMC, it seems that owners of parody, as well as fake accounts, are liable to be sued on the basis that these accounts are almost similar to well-known organisations which could potentially mislead the general public. But that’s not all, because the name looks very similar to the accounts they are parodying, it could potentially damage the original account’s reputation.
