Well, it has finally happened - Sugarbook got blocked in Malaysia. From our report yesterday, MCMC and the PDRM are now investigating the dating social network and claimed that it has violated Section 233 of the Multimedia and Communications Act 1998 for "illegal" activities (but no proof yet). However, Sugarbook members can still access via a new URL website.

Following the recent controversial statistic report provided by Sugarbook, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) just stated that they are working with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) on investigating the dating app.

Based on an article by malaymail.com, it seems that a local sugar baby by the name of Natalie has donated her entire monthly allowance to the Sungai Buloh Hospital. In terms of items, she donated various essentials including food supplies, toiletries, portable air-conditioners and more which the hospital was lacking at that time.

Apparently, the company have been doing quite well despite the negative perception received from the public. However, there are also other platforms that have different purposes, as they allow you to look for a person to be in a mutually beneficial relationship that involves money. It seems like Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) don’t really like the idea of it and they have taken down billboards of the dating platform Sugarbook earlier this week.
