As reported before, Taobao Malaysia has finally added a new language to its platform with Bahasa Malaysia. Just in time to kick off its annual 618 Mid-Year Sale, the updated interface is part of Taobao’s broader effort to localise the shopping experience and break down language barriers.

Do you enjoy shopping online on Taobao? And what if your preferred language is in Bahasa Malaysia? Well, good news. Taobao Malaysia announced plans to further enhance the local shopping experience by launching a Malay-language interface tentatively in June.

Taobao is one of the popular e-commerce sites used in China, but it may not have achieved high popularity in Malaysia when compared to others because of the Chinese language display which may limit the customer experience in buying the products offered. Now, they have announced the English language option for Malaysian users.

If you frequently use TaoBao, this news might surprise you. Recently, TaoBao has introduced a 10% SST sales tax to Malaysian users. Perhaps, this is following the Malaysian government announcing that it will levy a 10% sales tax on purchases of goods below RM500 starting this year.

With 11.11 underway, Taobao and Lazada are collaborating once again to offer customers something good. For starters, you can purchase products from Taobao directly on Lazada as well as enjoy free shipping. 

A few weeks ago, we reported that the India Government was looking into banning several mobile apps from China due to security reasons. They have already banned TikTok in their country and now with the latest update - a total of 118 mobile apps are blocked.

This must be a really devastating news to some of the fanatic buyers during the 11.11 sales. It is reported that over 879 tonnes of cargo shipped from China sunk into the open ocean after encountered a collision. The cargo mainly consists of products purchased from Taobao during the sales. The repercussions of this incident involved not only Taobao and its consumers, but also the lives of the ship’s crew members.
