U Mobile recently announced that it is implementing 5G in-building coverage at 6 major transport hubs in Malaysia with the support of EDOTCO, covering entire floors and terminal facilities without relying on hotspots. U Mobile has stepped up its 5G rollout in East Malaysia by expanding the availability of its ULTRA5G experience across Sabah. The latest expansion brings wider coverage to key areas including Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Beaufort and Kudat, strengthening the telco’s presence in both urban and surrounding regions.

U Mobile, Malaysia’s second 5G network provider, has officially rolled out its ULTRA5G experience across Bangi, Putrajaya, and Petaling Jaya New Town. Residents and visitors in these townships can now enjoy uninterrupted access to U Mobile’s next-generation 5G network anywhere within these areas, promising faster speeds, lower latency, and enhanced connectivity.

It has been a while since we got a report from Opensignal about Malaysia's Mobile Network Experience performance. According to the latest Opensignal Global Network Excellence Index, Malaysia’s mobile network experience slipped two spots, from 36th to 38th globally. Despite the drop, Malaysia still ranks in the top 10 across the Asia?Pacific region.

As you should know, U Mobile is Malaysia's second 5G network provider. Recently, the company successfully secured a RM4.3 billion syndicated financing to fund the nationwide deployment of its next-generation 5G network.

According to a written parliamentary reply by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and cited by the Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, U Mobile is required to secure 80% 5G population coverage in its first year of operation, This will increase to 95% by the third year under the company’s Detailed Business Plan (DBP) for Malaysia’s second 5G network.

Initially only available with Maxis, the HONOR X9d 5G is now available on more Malaysian telcos such as CelcomDigi, U Mobile, Yes, unifi and redOne.
