All YouTube users will soon be getting a new way of identifying themselves, which may be new to the platform, but not something entirely foreign in the social media landscape. Announced via a blog post today, YouTube is introducing @name handles across the platform.

The popular YouTube Go app will be discontinued in August 2022 as the Google-owned company no longer sees its necessity anymore. Launched in 2016, YouTube Go is a lightweight version of the YouTube app designed for places with poor data infrastructure or expensive connectivity.

TikTok yesterday announced the launch of TikTok Pulse, a new advertising programme that will allow the platform’s top creators to earn substantially more than its current monetisation programme. Pulse will allow advertisers to buy inventory in the top 4 percent of all videos in 12 different categories on TikTok, which will directly benefit creators.
