Based on a statement by toutiao.com, there is a possibility that vivo's APEX concept smartphone could come with up to a 248MP image sensor, up to 712GB internal storage and more. Furthermore, it seems the source has also mentioned that it might come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 875 which has not been released yet. 

Rumoured to be going official as soon as 24 January 2019, renders and even a video of the vivo Apex have appeared. Featuring an all smooth exterior with no ports or jacks (and a hidden pop-up periscope front camera like the vivo nex) the Apex appears to be all screen on the front and a smooth metallic bar on the back with dual rear cameras. There doesn't appear to be any rear fingerprint sensor either, so we assume that it will have an under display fingerprint scanner. No actual buttons were in sight either.

Vivo recently posted an image on their Weibo account stating that the new device, called the Vivo Apex will be released on the 24 January 2019. The device will feature a “Waterdrop” design which has rounded edges all around the smartphone, presumably making it better to grip as well as improve the aesthetics of it as well.

The ultra thin bezel Vivo APEX has been spotted in a FIFA 2018 World Cup advertisement, showcasing that the device does indeed have more than 90% screen-to-body ratio as well as an in-display fingerprint scanner which covers a much larger area compared to previous Vivo phones. The device does not have a display notch which usually houses the camera, but instead the camera slides out from behind the display whenever it is needed.

Leaks of the Vivo APEX shows that the device boasts more than 95% screen-to-body ratio. It is also likely that the mobile device will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner which covers half of the screen (bottom half presumably) to make it easier to unlock the device without the need to aim at specific points of the display.

In a time when a smartphone with a 5.5-inch display was the standard for the "biggest" viewing experience, the current smartphone trend is all about maximizing the screen size, yet keeping the device small enough to be comfortably used in one hand. This is mostly thanks to the Apple iPhone X, but we aren't going to talk about what we think of the notch, but rather - what's the best way to make a completely full-screen smartphone?

So in case you've been under the rock, vivo recently showed off its new APEX concept phone at the MWC 2018 event and now it has made its way to China. Although it's not on commercial sale yet, we got some details on the specifications and here's what we know.

As phone manufacturers continue to push for phones which have larger and larger displays and next to no bezels, vivo have made it a reality with their vivo APEX concept smartphone featuring a 98% display that acts as a speaker (which they call Screen SoundCasting), an under screen fingerprint sensor with 2-finger authentication and a motorized pop-up front camera (that also packs in a hidden proximity and ambient light sensor).
