The horror! Facebook’s family of apps which include Instagram, Facebook, FB Messenger and Whatsapp has been down for the past few hours now. The problem not only affects us Malaysians but everyone around the world.

Despite the fact that WhatsApp, Instagram and FB Messenger all belong under Facebook, the social media platform has seen a huge decline in its user engagement on their platform compared to the rest. This probably has led to the reason why Facebook is looking to unifi Facebook with WhatsApp, FB Messenger and Instagram.

iPhone users can now privately reply to Whatsapp messages in group chats through a 1 on 1 chat. In a group chat, simply tap and hold the specific message and select More and then Reply Privately. This feature can be found in update v2.19.11.

Update 3.18.380 on Whatsapp allows users to watch videos from Facebook, Instagram and Youtube while in chat, eliminating the need to leave the app just to watch a video. This update is called Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and is now available on Android. If you’re an iPhone user, you may need to wait till January for the update to hit iOS.

Whatsapp has announced that it will stop the support for certain operating systems on Android and iOS such as iOS 7 and older as well as Android Gingerbread 2.3.7 and older. Whatsapp has recommended to upgrade your device’s operating system to the latest operating system version your device is able to, in order to receive continued support from the messaging app. For more updates like these, stay tuned to TechNave.com.

As some of you already know, some of your friends and family have a new WhatsApp update that allows you to delete a message. But this is not just any simple delete-a-message feature, this new update lets you delete a message for everyone in a group chat. It's about time!

So here’s something fun for Apple owners, many may not know this due to old habits but users can use Siri to send text messages since September last year. Right now, Siri can be used to read unread messages too from your phone.

WhatsApp recently revealed that the next update for the chat messaging app could allow you to put up a video or photo status instead of the usual available or busy text-only status. These images or videos are still encrypted and visible to your contacts only and is in conjunction with 24 February 2017, which is WhatsApp's 8th birthday. As of the time of writing, our own WhatsApp is still the text-only version but the update is still rolling out, so keep calm and get ready to post your next gym photo as your WhatsApp status.

In a move to make sure freelance workers are actually where they say they are, WhatsApp may soon implement a feature that allows you to track the location of group members in real-time or at the same time as they are chatting. Lol, we're kidding about the freelance worker tracking thing but according to rumours, the Live Location Tracking feature is real and can be set for 1 minute, 2 minute, 5 minute or all the time tracking. Supposedly the feature is currently disabled by default but it will be available on both iOS and Android versions of the app. No Malaysia release dates yet so do take this rumour with a grain of salt.
