The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has instructed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to coordinate with telco companies to activate WiFi equipment at all flood temporary relief centres (PPS) nationwide. Moreover, in lieu of the nationwide flash flood, KKD is also handing out contributions worth RM1 million to flood victims in all states.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday announced that the government will provide free WiFi for visitors and patients at all government hospitals in Malaysia. Earlier today, Digi has officially announced that they have more than 7000 Digi WiFi access points across Malaysia, which are currently located in various key areas. These areas include shopping malls, business centres, tourist spots as well as several educational sectors such as colleges and universities. By connecting to the aforementioned Digi WiFi, the user can have unlimited internet quota with speeds of up to 4Mbps starting from only RM1.

Based on a statement by cnet.com, the development of the new Wi-Fi 7 standard is currently underway which promises up to 30Gbps in speeds over Wi-Fi connection. Not only will it be significantly faster compared to today’s standards, but it will also be broadcasted over 6GHz frequency which was first introduced in Wi-Fi 6.
