The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has instructed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to coordinate with telco companies to activate WiFi equipment at all flood temporary relief centres (PPS) nationwide. Moreover, in lieu of the nationwide flash flood, KKD is also handing out contributions worth RM1 million to flood victims in all states.

Specifically, under a new EU plan, airlines are obliged to install a ‘pico-cell’ on their aircraft to amplify 5G coverage to passengers.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday announced that the government will provide free WiFi for visitors and patients at all government hospitals in Malaysia. Moreover, Khairy said that the initiative will be implemented at Hospital Rembau in Negeri Sembilan first before being expanded to other public hospitals nationwide.

Today, Digi just shared that they have installed free 4G WiFi at 12 People’s Housing Programme (PPR) in Perlis, Perak, Terengganu, Melaka, and Johor. This initiative is to help facilitate online learning for students among the B40 communities as schools are still closed due to the current MCO. The free internet access provided will end in April.

Based on a statement by tecnoblog.com, it seems that the Sony PlayStation 5 will support Wi-Fi 6 as well as Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, which not only allows for a much faster download speed over Wi-Fi but also much better stability. To those who are not familiar with Wi-Fi 6, it allows the transfer of data up to 32 times faster compared to Wi-Fi 4 that’s supported by the Sony PlayStation 4.

The new Wi-Fi 6 standard has recently been unveiled which is not only backwards compatible with previous Wi-Fi standards, but it is also able to achieve up to 1.5Gbps based on a test conducted by CNET. To put it into perspective, CNET managed to download all 22 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies in 4k resolution in less than 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Not only will it be significantly faster compared to today’s standards, but it will also be broadcasted over 6GHz frequency which was first introduced in Wi-Fi 6.
