Xiaomi is said to be developing a smartphone that features a 48MP camera. The rear camera setup may include the aforementioned 48MP camera and a super wide-angle lens. It is rumoured to be released in the Redmi series due to Xiaomi’s president’s initial announcement on the Redmi social account.

News of Xiaomi developing its own system-on-a-chips first broke in mid-2015 when the vice president of the processor manufacturer, Leadcore announced a partnership with Xiaomi. It looks like the partnership is finally starting to show results, as Xiaomi has officially announced that they’ll be unveiling its first in-house SoC, dubbed, “Pinecore” on 28th February.

Xiaomi has once again overachieved themselves in Mi Singles’ Day for three years in a row, earning RMB 1.25 billion (RM86 billion!) sales in just one day. For your information, Singles' Day is held every 11 November in China. They’re also crowned the best smartphone in Tmall, and e-commerce platforms JD and Suning.
Mi Singles’ Day 2015 started with a bang at 11 November midnight and within the first 11 minutes and 56 seconds, they already went over RMB 100 million in sales at the Tmall store alone. Xiaomi exceeded RMB 1 billion after that just after 7 minutes.

The recent Xiaomi Mi Fan Festival 2015 has broken world records by selling 2.11 million phones in just 12 hours worldwide. The total revenue for the sales came up to a staggering RMB2.08 billion (RM1.22 billion) in a single day. This years Mi Fan Festival 2015 also included India, Indonesia and Malaysia which could have contributed to the world record breaking sales somewhat. The sales also included other products like Mi TVs, Mi Bands and Mi Power Strips. This excellent performance further vindicates Xiaomi's online sales methodology proving without a doubt that it is a very lucrative way to sell phones and other devices. We expect other phone and tech manufacturers to follow soon and more online sales from Xiaomi in the future.

Xiaomi Malaysia recently announced that only one device in their range of products available will be affected by the impending implementation of GST. This device would be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4Gwhich goes to RM625. All other products like the Redmi 2, Mi Pad, Mi Band and various Mi Power Banks or Headphones will stay with the same pricing as before. This also means that the Redmi Note 4G will be available for RM589 from now till 11:59pm, 31 March 2015 so if you've been planning to buy the Redmi Note 4G, now is the time to get it. Asides from 4G LTE, the Redmi Note 4G offers tech specs that include a Snapdragon 400 processor, 5.5-inch display, 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.

Xiaomi Malaysia have just announced that their current flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 3 will soon be available in Malaysia for RM889. Announced on their Facebook page, the Xiaomi Mi 3 will be coming on 20 May 2014 and offer tech specs on par with some more premium smartphones. The tech specs for the Xiaomi Mi 3 include:
- 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8274AB)
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB / 64GB storage
- 5-inch display (IPS, 1080 x 1920 pixels, 441ppi)

The number of China smartphone makers in Malaysia has risen again as Xiaomi Malaysia have announced operations in the country. So far they only have a Facebook page and haven't done much more than say hello but it does mark the fact that we'll soon get local support for some more affordable yet better than average smartphones. While they have not announced any devices just yet the Xiaomi Mi3 has already appeared on the SIRIM database and appears to be one of the devices set for a Malaysian release. No news yet on local Malaysia pricing or any exact release dates but we expect it to happen as soon as they get a Malaysian online shop or portal up. The China-brand smartphone invasion is upon us as Xiaomi has announced plans that it will be arriving in Malaysia soon. Coming from Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi Global in an interview with HardwareZone Singapore, Malaysia will see a Malaysian branch for Xiaomi in the next two months (which would be April 2014). Xiaomi recently came out with the Redmi smartphone in Singapore at S$169 (RM441) with some respectable tech specs which included a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 4.7-inch IPS display and dual-SIM support. No news yet if this is the exact same smartphone Malaysia will be getting for the initial Xiaomi Malaysia launch but more smartphone brand makers can only mean good things for buyers here in Malaysia. No specific Malaysia release dates were mentioned though, but we're guessing Xiaomi smartphones and devices being available here in or after April 2014.
