A perk of having a Xiaomi device is that even its oldest phones still receive updates till this day. At least, until now. The Chinese manufacturer made an announcement on their forums stating 7 Redmi devices will cease to receive any form of software support.

Hey Xiaomi fans, MIUI 10 is coming upon us and the company just released a scheduled date for all Mi devices to receive an Over-The-Air (OTA) update soon. Since 29 June 2018, the Mi series such as the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix, Mi 6X, Mi 5 and Mi Note have gotten the update. The following update will be for the Redmi series in July this month.

Xiaomi may have released a few products here in Malaysia, but not the Mi series like the upcoming Mi 6 that will be revealed soon in the coming weeks. That being said, Xiaomi may have another surprise for us and rumours have it that they are planning to release a new Redmi Pro 2 at the end of this month.

As Chinese smartphone manufacturers are getting more reputable globally, they are now looking beyond configurations to stand out in this fierce smartphone competition, they have already nailed high-end specifications, now it's all about the design and camera quality.

Thanks to the dual camera lens on the Xiaomi Redmi Pro, it has gotten a lot of buzz in China and hopefully we can get our hands on it sometime in Malaysia (whenever it will be). Last week was filled with a lot of new and official announcements but the most notable one remained Xiaomi's first laptop, the Mi Notebook Air, which for some reason was quickly followed up by another thin notebook computer called the Lenovo Air 13 Pro. Following up on these were the Xiaomi Redmi Pro smartphone with its dual rear camera, while the Android-based Blackberry DTEK50 was also announced. Other notable international announcements include the Samsung Galaxy Tab J for those budget tablet users out there.
