In an effort to prevent increased scams and spam on YouTube Shorts, YouTube will be taking action soon to make links in Shorts comments, descriptions and live feeds unclickable. It will begin on 13 August 2023, to further prevent users from harmful content and malware. 

Today, Youtube released new features for Shorts. According to the company, this is a lightweight and fun way to create and share short-form videos on YouTube. These new features range from remixing tools to expanding the Youtube Partner Programme so they can monetise their shorts.

Initially introduced in 2017, YouTube Stories will be killed off starting from 26 June 2023. YouTube made this official in a recent announcement on a Google Support thread. Instead, YouTube suggests that content creators use Shorts and Community Posts to do all the teasers, trailers and supporting information for YouTube videos.

YouTube Shorts is the video streaming company’s answer to TikTok and it looks like the Google-owned company may also be competing with TikTok Shop, the unique shopping features found on TikTok. Starting in the United States, YouTube is currently testing shopping features and affiliate marketing on Shorts with eligible creators.
