In our previous Apple iPad 5 rumour we mentioned that the fifth generation iPad could be going for a narrower look and feel with a thinner and lighter chassis. These new leaked pictures of a tablet's front panel seem to confirm this.

Rumours about Apple's fifth generation iPad or iPad 5 are also growing with many saying that there may be a change in design. While the 9.7" screen size or Retina (2048 x 1536 pixel resolution) display may not change, the screen for the new iPad 5 may become a bit narrower than the almost square Apple iPad of today. This new design is said to follow that of the iPad Mini more than the traditional iPad design.

Some of the more recent Apple patent applications have been really far out of this world, and the same could be said for this latest patent which files for a removable touchscreen laptop. In essence the patent files for a laptop (with all of the hardware located under the keyboard) and a touchscreen that can be removed and carried about while the operating system is streamed to the touchscreen from the laptop via a 60GHz ultrawideband format. While at first it sounds like Apple is copying the Asus Transformer Prime, in actuality this patent filing is more similar to the Asus Transformer AIO than the Transformer Prime. The only major difference is that the touchscreen display doesn't have any actual hardware of its own, so if you get out of range of the laptop, it will stop working.

Apple has always been about patents but this is probably one of the more useful sounding ones so far. Instead of a patent for a rounded edges, this patent is about a "Protective Mechanism for an Electronic Device" that allows an electronic device to shift the weight of a falling device in such a way that it would always fall on it's back. This means if your smartphone had this feature and it fell, you wouldn't have to deal with a cracked screen (Corning Gorilla Glass still cracks due to falls).
The way it works is that when the device is falling the phone detects free fall using position sensors, imaging sensors and accelerometers. Then it sends a signal to the protective mechanism, allowing it to land on the strongest part of the chassis (usually the back part), minimizing the possibility of cracks or damage to the device and the screen of the device.[ Read More ] -

iPad 4 with Retina Display Pros:
Well, the first and most obvious highlight on the new iPad 4 is the Retina Display. It's the one element that never failed to impress us no matter what application was running on the screen. It's clear, it's bright, it's crisp; essentially it properly expands the smartphone experience onto a larger tablet and takes us into a new generation of displays.
We're also fans of the design of the new iPad - and yes, we know it's the same as before. We're not happy about the fact it's heavier than the iPad 2, but the build quality is something most other manufacturers long for, and are constantly trying to ape.
And then there's the user interface - another element that polarises opinion. We appreciate the power that can be had from widgets, there's something about the simplicity of the iOS UI that we just love - and simplicity counts for a huge amount in the burgeoning tablet market. Sure, it's ageing, but it works better on a tablet than on a smartphone.

Apple iPad 5 Malaysia Release Date & Specs (Rumors):
I must say that the release of both iPad Mini and iPad 4 was a surprise for me. Everyone was expecting the new iPad mini but not really an iPad 4. Why? Because the the previous generation was only in stores for 6 months before Apple decided to make an new generation ipad and scrap the older one. Will this also be the case of the new iPad 5?

iPad Mini Pros:
A whole lot on the new iPad mini, and although the price is a little high (and you should REALLY think about the 32GB option for safety if you're thinking of getting one).
The larger screen might not fit fully in a single palm, but from the smooth back to the Smart Covers designed specifically for the model, we're fans - pure and simple.
The speed of the processor is perfectly acceptable and lag-free for all tasks, the UI is actually better-engineered for this 7.9-inch screen compared to its bigger brother and we're chirpy indeed about the battery prowess through harder use.[ Read More ] -
