However, it was further clarified again by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, saying the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) cannot simply check a phone without a good reason.

Perhaps bad news to most people, the Malaysian police force now has the authority to check your mobile phone if there is suspicion or anything related to a crime. The news was confirmed by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain yesterday, under Section 23 (1) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
