    Malaysian Immigration confirms physical passports still accepted at autogates despite MyNIISe rollout

    There seems to be confusion about using the National Integrated Immigration System (MyNIISe) for travelling. Thankfully, the immigration authorities have clarified that travellers can still use physical passports to clear immigration via autogates (e-gates) at the country’s entry and exit points. This reassurance from the Director General of the Immigration Department comes amid public confusion over whether the new digital system is mandatory.

    The Home Ministry, in a statement today, encouraged tourists from six ASEAN countries and Timor Leste to use the autogate facilities at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminals 1 and 2. The ASEAN countries include Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Vietnam.

  • The Home Ministry has revealed that 53 countries have been extended clearance to use the Autogate Facility at Malaysia’s entrance. Speaking at the Dewan Rakyat, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah revealed that currently, visitors from 60 countries can now use the facilities for Immigration clearance into our country.

    The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has announced that the Immigration Department (JIM) will be adding more autogates at KLIA Terminal 1, KLIA Terminal 2 and Penang Airport. Its Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution asserted that the move was meant to overcome congestion at Malaysia’s entry points.

  • The automated entry system (autogate) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will soon be extended to non-Malaysian citizens thus reducing the queues at the airport’s immigration counter. Announced by the Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud yesterday, the implementation will begin in next month.
