Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali has revealed that 3,682 illegal websites offering and spreading pirated content, such as popular films and music, have been blocked from 2021 to November 2024. He added that the blocking was carried out by KPDN in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Internet service providers (ISPs).

Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching in Parliament today revealed that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has blocked 549 porn sites and 69 prostitution websites from January to 1 June this year. She also revealed that MCMC had collaborated with social media operators to remove similar items on the latter’s platforms.
