It's been almost two months now since Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) launched their Wanita Era Digital (DigiWED) programme, and it just keeps getting better. As of 10 March 2016, for the first time in Malaysia they have announced a mobile-based authentication solution, GSMA Mobile Connect is now available and ready to use for Mudah.my's PRO Niaga users who are Digi customers.

As of yesterday (25 February), Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“Digi”) has announced their support for the GSMA Connected Women Commitment initiative at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona. This makes Digi the first GSMA the only Malaysia telco to collaborate with GSMA and global mobile operators to educate and equip women in low- and middle-income countries with in basic computer and internet knowledge by 2020.

Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the National Council of Women’s Organisations (NCWO) have collaborated recently and launched DigiWED, which stands for Digi Wanita Era Digital. The purpose of the programme is to inspire, empower and provide Malaysian women with basic internet skills.
WED will be conducted in a series of educational meet-ups at 1Malaysia Internet Centres and NCWO affiliates’ offices around the country, along the basic internet skills includes safe usage of smart devices and the internet for communicating, sharing, browsing, and entertainment, as well as give them good reasons to use the internet. Digi hopes to expand the programme further to help women to take their business online in this rising digital economy era.
