According to Bloomberg, Meta confirmed it will lay off 8000 employees. That said, what should you know about it?

Previously, there was a rumour of OPPO possibly shutting down OnePlus, but that turned out to be false. Today, realme has reportedly begun laying off employees in India as part of a restructuring tied to its transition back into OPPO’s organisational umbrella. Industry sources and retail contacts in major states like Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab say that sales and field staff have been told their roles may end as early as 30 April 2026, reflecting broader cost-cutting and operational alignment between the two brands.

Pinterest, one of the platforms that encourages photo sharing, has now announced that it will reduce its workforce by 15% this year. This move is in line with the company's focus on artificial intelligence. So, what should you know about it?

In early July, Microsoft laid off 9000 employees across the globe. Among the departments, the gaming division was affected the most, resulting in the cancellation of games that were in development. This includes developers at King, the studio best known for Candy Crush Saga.

As reported before, Microsoft did indeed announce a major layoff this July. In another significant round of restructuring, the company plans to lay off up to 9000 employees, marking its fourth wave of job cuts this year.

Meta, the parent company behind Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp, is now reportedly planning to cut some of its workforce. That involves the lowest-performing 5% of employees in the company.

Intel could be planning for another huge employee cutdown since 2016. Reports are saying that the chip-making company will do so to cope with the PC market decline. If it were true, the layoffs would get announced as early as this month.

Believe it or not, Apple is making some of its employees wear a police-grade body cam to prevent them from leaking the company's hardware secrets. It is reported that the tech giant has been executing this dramatic measure for at least the last few weeks. 

Chinese subsidiary Canon Information Technology might have gone too far managing its employees. The firm is putting its employees under surveillance with AI-enabled smile recognition cameras that only let the smiling ones enter rooms or book meetings. This is probably one of the most dystopic ways used to enhance the workplace culture.

It looks like the current pandemic has shifted the view of some companies and Microsoft is one of them. Now, the tech giant is allowing its emloyees to work from home permanently. The company has unveiled the “hybrid workplace” guidance internally to allow for greater flexibility once the US offices eventually reopen in January 2021 at the earliest.
