Before I started my career as a tech journalist at TechNave, I used to invest a lot of my time competing in various competitive esports tournaments for titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, and Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. Not only that, but both the organisations will be collaborating together in order to bring the best eSports experiences to Malaysia via Maxis’ 4G as well as Fibre network.

Beyond Esports from Thailand, has emerged as the champions of a tournament called TECS featuring Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which was hosted in Penang over the weekend. The champions will be bringing home the grand prize of up to RM20000, the first runner up as well as joint 3rd and 4th place won themselves RM10000 and RM6000 respectively.

For the first time, Lenovo Legion hosted the Legion @ Labuan Gaming Tournament in East Malaysia with a total prize pool of RM6600 to be won. The main title that was played throughout the 3-day length of the event was Dota 2 with the use of Lenovo Legion’s very own gaming products such as laptops, accessories and peripherals.

The free-to-play Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Lite beta will be available in more countries other than Thailand such as Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines starting from 14 February 2019. Those who are interested in taking part, the registration for the beta will open on the 13 February.

During the recent weekend on 26-27 January 2019, vivo Malaysia held a PUBG Mobile Malaysia National Championship (PMNC) tournament in Sunway Velocity Mall, Kuala Lumpur where the last 16 teams from across four different states (Johor, Sabah, Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur) came to compete with each other. Among all the teams, Gank.Fty came up as the champion and brought home a total cash prize pool of RM60,000, starting from the qualifiers until the Grand Finals.

The organizing committee of SEA Games 2019 has announced titles such as Dota 2, Arena of Valor, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Starcraft 2 as well Tekken 7 will be the official games of the event while the 6th and last title will soon be announced in the near future on Razer’s official Twitter account.
