As you may know, Qualcomm unveiled two new flagship chipsets at the Snapdragon Summit 2025. Instead of just one successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, there's also a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 now. But wait, that's not enough either because Qualcomm could unveil a third variant in 2026.

The next-gen flagship chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek are expected to arrive later this year. Recently, we've also heard several rumours about respective offerings, Snapdragon 898 and Dimensity 2000. Now, a reputable Chinese tipster shared that the two chips might be very close in terms of performance, which hypes up the competition even more.

Next year's chipset war will be an exciting one as current rumours have already leaked quite a lot of information regarding the companies' progress. Before the war even started, it is reported that Qualcomm's upcoming offer will not reach the performance of Apple's A15 Bionic and Samsung's Exynos 2200.

After Google had a comeback with Pixel 5, the flagship device without a flagship chip has sparked some discussions. It also raised doubts like would the company continue with this strategy or will eventually go back to using flagship chipsets. Now, rumour has come saying that the tech giant might have a surprise coming soon and it'll be a premium smartphone with a flagship chipset.
