Google Cloud recently announced the Google for Startups Accelerator: Southeast Asia which includes Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This 3 month, equity free program provides generous support, including up to RM1645000 (US$350000) in cloud credits for 25 startups before the application deadline of 20 June 2026, with the program commencing in August 2026. 

Google has recently revealed the Google Pics for Google Workspace landing page just a few hours ago. From the description of the features, it seems that it will be a new AI image generation and editing app built into Google Workspace like Slides. 

Google recently announced new features coming for Android 17 which is expected to arrive sometime in Q2 2026 (June or July). These features include a larger Instagram for tablets, built-in Screen Reactions and extra editing tools. Pixels will get these features first but no exact Malaysia release dates just yet.

The Gemini roll-out continues as Google recently and officially announced Gemini in Chrome for Malaysia. Located in the top right corner under “Ask Gemini”, this opens up the Gemini Prompt window on the right of the currently opened tab. According to Google, they've found that most of their users have gotten used to the new additions of AI and Gemini to Google Search and are now asking longer and more complex questions. They say that 5 trillion searches annually are now complemented enough by AI Overviews and AI Mode that the rate of irrelevant ads has been reduced by 40%.

Today, Google has introduced a new certification requirement for financial services advertisers targeting Malaysia, aimed at strengthening protections against online financial scams. The new measure, known as Financial Services Verification (FSV), adds an additional layer of security to Google’s existing financial products and services advertising policies.

Google recently announced that you can create songs and music using Gemini with their newly released Lyria 3 model. Now, it is officially available in Malaysia from the Gemini app.
