Samsung Electronics has revealed a new tri-fold smartphone prototype, showcasing two separate hinge mechanisms that allow the device to open into a larger, tablet-like display of around 10 inches when fully unfolded. This move signals Samsung’s push beyond the standard foldable formats (single-hinge or flip style) into more ambitious form factors, targeting users seeking both phone and tablet functionality in one device.

According to industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone — expected to debut in 2026 or early 2027 — could end up costing substantially less to manufacture than previously estimated. The savings come from one of the most mechanically complex parts of the device: its folding hinge.

It seems that LetsGoDigital spotted a patent filed by vivo, hinting the company might be working on a foldable smartphone that comes equipped with stylus support, as well as a dedicated compartment to store the stylus. While not much is known in regards to the release date, this does give us a better understanding of what to expect from vivo when the device is available in the global market.
