Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has assured that the government has no plans to create new laws or specific Acts for the purpose of regulating social media platforms. Furthermore, he stressed that the government has never even announced any intention to draft such legislation.

De facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said has announced that the Federal Government is planning to introduce a kill switch against fraudulent activities on any online domains or platforms automatically.
