Today, vivo announced a significant milestone in the Chinese smartphone market. The company is now taking the lead with a 17.93% market share and a volume of 11.95 million units in Q2 2024, solidifying it as the number one Chinese smartphone brand in China.

Apple is no stranger when it comes to recognition and sales volume. However, it seems that the big tech giant has slipped a bit. According to this Korean news outlet, Samsung Electronics is taking the lead in global smartphone sales thanks to the Galaxy S24 series lineup. 

The market performance of smartphone companies in Q1 2021 has been revealed by Strategic Analytics. According to the statistics, Samsung was on top of the list by controlling almost a quarter of the market. It has also become the largest smartphone supplier in the world as it has 77 million smartphones shipped in just the first quarter of 2021.

It looks like Xiaomi has had a great start this year by being crowned the largest Chinese smartphone brand globally. According to a report, the brand’s worldwide market share hit 13% in the month of February, which also helped the company to become the world’s third-largest smartphone brand.

According to analytical company Strategic Analytics, Sony is the one who is leading the camera sensor industry by owning 46% market share. It is reported that the global market for camera sensors for smartphones reached 15 billion USD in 2020, an increase of 13% over 2019. Therefore, you can roughly estimate how much Sony is earning in just the camera sensor industry alone from the statistics.

Due to the pandemic, the production of smartphones has encountered several challenges this year. However, it looks like the manufacturers are quick to recover before we go into 2021. After bringing the production back to normal, it might have benefited a chip manufacturer one way or another. It is reported that MediaTek has now become the top in the chipset industry by getting the most share from the market.

Other than HUAWEI, Chinese companies like Xiaomi, vivo, OPPO have done a pretty good job maintaining their businesses. As we know, HUAWEI has had its rough moment this year and we can't deny that there were some damages done. Therefore, it has given a chance for the others to see that as an opportunity to become the top in the country. Having that said, it is reported that the other Chinese companies mentioned are building up momentum in their orders for the coming quarter.
