    Tech4Good, is a new initiative by Microsoft Malaysia designed to provide non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with the technology, knowledge, community and resources they need to fulfil their missions. From now on, Tech4Good will be platform for NGOs to have access to world-class solutions and technology that support their efforts in serving their communities, including youth, women, undocumented children and persons with disabilities.

    Dell has announced a new line-up of notebook and desktop personal computers for their Dell InspironXPS and Vostro series today at their Dell Product Showcase. Featuring the new 6th Generation Intel Core processors based on the Skylake microarchitecture optimized for Microsoft Windows 10 the various personal computers include the Dell XPS 13 and Dell XPS 15 which feature the virtually borderless InfintyEdge Display and a premium carbon fiber and machined aluminum chassis. New devices in the Inspiron series include the Inspiron 24 7000 and 3000 series All-in-onesInspiron 7000 series 2-in-1 convertible and Inspiron 7000 and 5000 series laptops for every type of computing consumer. The Inspiron 24 7000 Series All-in-one desktop in particular features the Intel RealSense 3D camera with a 23.8-inch display and ultra-slim form factor. The Vostro series saw the new Vostro 14 5000 Series which is the thinnest 14-inch Vostro laptop for SMBs and professionals to date. All of the Dell devices will be available (if they aren't already) on the Dell site and authorized retail stores with Malaysia release dates and pricing as follows:

    DirectD is one of the better known third-party mobile device sellers and retailers in Malaysia. This is due to their often lower than average prices and early (before official release) inventory of the latest smartphones, tablets, mobile devices and more. Recently, they held the grand opening for their latest DirectD Gadget Mega Store here in Petaling Jaya. Featuring 18000 square feet and lots of nearby parking space, DirectD say that they have the largest mobile phone shop in Malaysia yet. While there are more than 300 smartphones and tablets and 1000 or so accessories available at a time, the store also has the latest devices on display, a dedicated service center with comfortable waiting area and telco center for both new subscribers and bill payment. These telcos include DiGi, Maxis, U Mobile and YES with plans to add more soon. In addition, free WiFi is available throughout the store. Individual buyers can also opt to pay via installment plan or credit card while wholesale buyers are also welcome with no minimum order required. The DirectD Gadget Mega Store will be open from 9.00am to 9.30pm everyday. Here are some of the highlights and promotions available;

    Intel is looking to really help local Malaysian tech companies into the limelight by providing Intel tech and expertise for mobile devices. This includes local device maker iPro and we were recently able to get some hands-on time with their latest iPro Livepad 8.9 tablet. Powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3735F processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and an 8000 mAh battery this surprisingly powerful tablet also sports  an 8.9-inch full HD (1920 x 1200 pixels) display and Windows 8.1. The Livepad 8.9 was recently on promotion at Plaza Low Yat for just RM699 with a free bluetooth keyboard (complete with trackpad) and casing worth RM199 for 500 early-bird buyers. Unfortunately, all of these keyboard and casing promos have already been snapped up. The RM699 offer is still available for buyers at www.iclickz.com while stocks last (as of the time of writing, they still had stock) but after this the tablet is expected to retail at RM799. We managed to score some hands-on time with the iPro Livepad 8.9 tablet in this article.
