A new report by Opensignal highlights a key strength of U Mobile’s Ultra5G network, and it is not just about raw speed. Instead, the telco is gaining ground in one of the most challenging areas of mobile connectivity, indoor coverage.

CelcomDigi has announced a new lineup of prepaid mobile Internet passes aimed at users who want always-on connectivity with full access to 5G speeds. The new Prepaid 5G Hyper and Power passes are targeted at Gen Now users who stream, game, scroll, and work on the go in Malaysia.

When the government first started talking about 5G a few years ago, it was clear that we consumers wouldn't be able to benefit anytime soon. But with the COVID-19 pandemic, industries and Malaysians quickly began using the Internet for things like video meetings, ecommerce, online events and more.

This explosive growth meant that there was a real need to expedite the growth of 5G in Malaysia. Today, we want to briefly walk you through how much 5G has progressed here in Malaysia exactly in the last few years. Where are we so far?

In this short news, it seems that many Digi users are experiencing unstable mobile internet lines across Malaysia (or perhaps just KL itself). Initially, Digi performed system migration maintenance from the 25th until the 26th of October but it seems that some problems are persisting. 

A lot of people are big social media users, especially those who are younger. For the telco companies, this is a group of people that they also want to entice. Now, Digi has something new up its sleeve - a new package targeted at youngsters.

Today, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) just announced that the free 1GB Internet data will continue until 31 July 2021. As usual, the five telco companies - Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile and Telekom Malaysia have agreed to extend the provision of this daily Internet data for education purpose.

Besides the general inconvenience, the global pandemic-induced movement control order (MCO) has had severe economical effects. That's why some companies are looking for ways to "balance the books", so to say. One of them would be Maxis, which has been throttling the Internet speed for some of its Hotlink users.

Earlier today, Celcom announced the new MEGA postpaid plan that aims to deliver a flexible postpaid package to customers. With the new plan, you can choose to have either unlimited data cap or unparalleled internet speeds - two areas that are commonly demanded when it comes to mobile internet.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) recently measured the network performance and compliance to the Mandatory Standard for Quality of Service (QoS) of local broadband providers from January to November 2016. The report revealed that Maxis offers the fastest download speed throughout Malaysia while DiGi offers the least amount of lag.

Maxis recorded the fastest average download speeds in 5 out of 6 regions, though, in the central region(which covers Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan), it was Celcom that has the fastest download speed. DiGi offers the quickest response time(Low average network latency), which basically meant "less lag" which is important in online gaming, streaming and teleconferencing.
