The agreement is done. Nokia has announced that the talks between HMD Global, FIH Mobile and Microsoft is done. What this means is that the brand is officially off and running, and we will be seeing products from the company in the second half of 2017.

So here's some news about Nokia, while we're all waiting patiently for their return, the company has announced that Nokia President and CEO Rajeev Suri will be presenting a keynote at the Mobile World Congress 2017. But will we be seeing any new devices from them? Maybe.

A project by Nokia was completed in conjunction with CMC Engineering Sdn Bhd, which was responsible for the construction of systems work packages of the line extension such as light rail system in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. An advanced communications network was built to support railway operations and passenger services, such as Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line Extension – including 13 new stations – which is used by 350000 passengers daily.

There were rumours about two new Nokia smartphones coming soon earlier this year. The news is apparently correct, as a report stated that Nokia is readying an announcement by the end of the year, with a return to markets by early 2017.

We all know Nokia will eventually return to the smartphone scene, but they have been really quiet these past few months. Even the rumours regarding that are quite scarce, until today that is, as we just got some leaks from the internet that Nokia is planning not one, but two Nokia-branded devices.

The previous news are true – we will see Nokia branded devices running Android really soon. Nokia Technologies revealed today that it has given exclusive global license to HMD Global, a startup company based out of its own home country of Finland. At the same time, Microsoft has confirmed the sale of their feature phone business that carries the license to the name Nokia, to Foxconn’s subsidiary FIH Mobile for USD 350 million.

A rumour is circulating out of China that Microsoft, the current owner of the Nokia phone brand, is intending to close the division inside the company handling the brand and will licence the brand to Foxconn Corporation. Microsoft owns the right to use the Nokia name for smartphones until 2024, according to the deals when they owned the latter in 2014.
