In an unexpected move, Google is rolling out broader access to picture-in-picture playback on YouTube, with the feature set to reach users worldwide over the coming months. The update aims to make multitasking easier by allowing videos to continue playing even when users leave the app.

It's not uncommon for Google and YouTube to try curbing users with ad-blockers. Today, recent reports indicate that YouTube is deliberately slowing down video playback for users with active ad?blocking extensions.

It seems that a tweet by @WABetaInfo revealed that WhatsApp could be working on allowing users to alter the playback speed on voice messages in the near future. While not much is known in regards to when the feature will be publicly available, it does give us a better idea of what to expect when it is officially available.

Based on a statement by theverge.com, it seems that Netflix could allow viewers to watch shows and movies from as slow as 0.5x all the way up to 1.5x speed very soon. While not much is known in regards to when this feature will be available to Malaysians, we do know that viewers will be required to opt-in to this feature whenever they’re watching a new series or movie so that they won’t accidentally watch at a slightly slower or faster speed.

Earlier today, Astro unveiled the Astro Ultra Box which comes with features such as 4K UHD playback, Cloud Recording as well as a new user interface. Based on a statement by CEO Henry Tan, over half a million homes in Malaysia are equipped with a 4K TV and 70% of them are Astro subscribers.
