Frequency Interference - How to Retune your Wireless AV device

Our previous explorations in Frequency Interference have clearly shown that supposed 2.4GHz devices like Wireless AV transmitters are actually interfering with the 2.3GHz spectrum assigned to telcos like P1. A closer look at the manual reveals that this isn't the manufacturer's fault as they clearly state that you should retune the settings for said devices. As such, it becomes the users full responsibility if SKMM enforcement should come knocking with up to RM500000 fees or 5 years imprisonment. However, all is not lost as you can retune your Wireless AV device quite easily. Check out how to do so via the video in this article.

  • Frequency Interference - Do non-standard Wireless devices really affect P1 services?

Frequency Interference - Do non-standard Wireless devices really affect P1 services?

As the number of wireless devices continues to grow in Malaysia, telcos like P1 are finding more and more such devices interfering with the 2.3GHz spectrum assigned to them. While nearly all of these devices claim that they run on the higher 2.4GHz band, when set to default some of these wireless devices are actually using the 2.3GHz band to transmit data, causing frequency interference to connectivity.  To see if these devices actually do affect these services we've carried out testing of a Wireless AV transmitting device with a P1 DX230 Home modem. Utilizing an ASUS ZenPad 8.0 Z380KL tablet to connect via speedtest.net and YouTube, we checked for frequency interference in the video in this article.

  • Wireless Broadband Internet has come a long way here in Malaysia and Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd or P1 has been a major mover and provider of wireless broadband since 2008. Many Malaysians were among the first to enjoy the latest Wireless Technology or WiMAX when the regulatory Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) awarded the 2.3GHz spectrum to 4 Internet Service Providers in 2007, which included P1.  hundreds of thousands of Malaysians now use P1 services for their Home and Mobile Internet needs as we move forward to a nation that is continuously updating their Facebook and other social media while watching YouTube videos.
