Just recently, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced that they are focusing on expanding the internet to more rural areas. In fact, they have listed up to 839 remote locations and an evaluation is being tendered from eligible service provider licensees.

Under the Jendela Initiative, it seems that around 839 locations across 8 Malaysian states will be getting broadband access service via Satellite by October 2021. The locations mentioned comprised mostly of rural areas and Orang Asli settlements that are relatively hard to access and deploy effectively.
