As announced by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance on 13 October 2023 during the Budget 2024 speech, the Sales and Service Tax (SST) rate will be increased from 6% to 8% effectively on 1 March 2024. With this, Shopee Malaysia will revise the SST rate on its platform.

With the launch of eMADANI program yesterday (4 December 2023), the Ministry of Finance Malaysia announced that over 7 million Malaysians have applied for the RM100 credit across MAE, Touch 'n Go eWallet, ShopeePay and Setel. The figure was confirmed at 5 PM yesterday on the government's official Facebook account.
