A few hours ago, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) published its Public Inquiry Report on proposed mandatory standards for the registration of prepaid mobile end users. The report outlines feedback received from both industry players and the public, alongside the Commission’s final policy position on strengthening prepaid SIM registration in Malaysia.

In a sweeping move to combat online fraud, the Malaysian government is preparing to enforce a cap of two prepaid SIM cards per telecommunications company for Malaysian citizens — and a total of two across all telcos for foreign users. The announcement came from Deputy Communications Minister Teo?Nie?Ching during a session in the Dewan Rakyat.
