BigPay users can now send money to recipients with no bank accounts in Indonesia and the Philippines
Jun 21, 2022BigPay today announced the launch of cash pickup services in Indonesia and the Philippines, a new addition to its existing remittance services. Called ‘Cash Pickup’, this new feature allows BigPay users in Malaysia and Singapore to send money to recipients in the aforementioned countries even if the recipients don’t have any bank accounts.

A new study by Visa have found that 93 percent of consumers in Southeast Asia have embraced cashless payment methods, including cards, contactless cards and mobile contactless, mobile wallets and QR code payments. Furthermore, the study found that 74 percent of Malaysian consumers have successfully gone cashless.

Users of the Touch ‘n Go eWallet can now use the platform outside of Malaysia, specifically across the Causeway in Singapore. Announced by the Touch ‘n Go Group via TNG Digital Sdn Bhd today, the company is collaborating with Alipay+ in allowing for the eWallet to be used in paying for ComfortDelGro taxis in Singapore.

If you are a Fave user, you would be glad to know that a new Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) service called FavePay Later in Malaysia and Singapore. It will an interest-free credit which can be used to over 40,000 stores as a pilot. For now, it's rolling out on iOS users today, followed by an Android release in July 2021.

It seems that a local Twitter user @XavierNaxa recently tweeted that there could be a possibility that Apple will be opening an Apple official store in Malaysia which will be located at the Tun Razak Exchange in Kuala Lumpur. While not much is known in regards to the official date the store will open, the store will be the third of its kind in the Southeast Asian region after Thailand and Singapore.

Based on Grab Singapore’s official website, it seems that Grab has officially started allowing users to transfer funds in their GrabPay wallet to their bank account. But that’s not all, it seems that it also allows Grab users to transfer funds to other e-wallets as well with no additional minimum transfer and no transaction fees.

It seems that Singapore has started a new 3-month trial for self-driving buses which can be booked via an app when you’re around the Singapore Science Park area. Based on what our source mentioned, while this isn’t the first time self-driving buses were tested in the city, it is the first of its kind to charge a fee of 0.20SGD (~RM0.60).
