This week we didn't see any big announcements but ASUS Malaysia did announce that their ASUS ZenFone 3 will be coming to Malaysia soon at their Zenvolution event on 6 August 2016. We have seen the Sony Xperia X line of models in Malaysia – the Sony Xperia X, Sony Xperia XA and the Sony Xperia XA Ultra. We even tested one of them, with a bit of a bitter aftertaste in our mouth. Now though a new sighting of a new Sony Xperia design phone is putting our hopes back up for the Japanese company.

The iconic official replica trophy of UEFA Champions League is making its way to Malaysia this coming 23 April 2016 until 24 April 2016. For two days the trophy will be placed at Ground Floor, Highstreet, One Utama Shopping Mall. This arrangement is for the official UEFA Champions League Replica Trophy Event in Asia, where Kuala Lumpur will be the first city to host such event since Sony became the official partner of UEFA Champions League for season 2015.

For Sony Xperia users, you will have an exclusive chance to partake in the event and have an up close experience with the prestigious trophy. All you need to do is to log into your Xperia Lounge app where then you will receive a code. Use that code to register in the WitnessTheTrophy website, fill in your details and submit the application. You will receive the ticket via the e-mail address you filled in.

Sony recently announced their latest Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact smartphones with some clearly significant advancements. The most noteworthy feature would likely be the 4K or 2160 x 3840 pixel display on the Xperia Z5 Premium and the world's fastest 0.03 autofocus 23MP rear camera for all three. Other tech specs and features are equally noteworthy as all three are packing in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and side fingerprint sensor but the Xperia Z5 Compact is using 2GB of RAM instead of the 3GB RAM found on the other two. Display sizes are of course different with the Xperia Z5 Premium going for the aforementioned 5.5-inch 4K display, while the Xperia Z5 goes for a 5.2-inch FHD display. The Xperia Z5 Compact goes a step down with a 4.6-inch display and 720 x 1280 pixel resolution but all of them are be water proofed and have 4G LTE Cat 6 connectivity. No Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet but we should know more soon.  

While it was announced for Malaysia last month, the pricing for the Sony Xperia C4 Dual was not officially announced at the time. Today, Sony Mobile Communications have set the price for the Xperia X4 Dual at RM1299 inclusive of GST. The Xperia C4 Dual is a selfie centric smartphone with a 5MP front camera and a front LED flash. The smartphone packs in Sony Exmor R camera sensors along with Dual SIM support and Sony 3D Surround Sound technology. It will be available in black, vibrant mint and white. Rumours about the upcoming Sony Xperia Z5 have surfaced detailing tech specs and features. The rumours indicate that the Xperia Z5 could be coming in September 2015, which jives with what we know from those in the industry. However, the rumours also show tech specs that include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, 21MP Sony Exmor RS IMX230 CMOS rear camera, 4500 mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner. The new camera should allow for 4K video recording. While there are no specific Malaysia release dates, we expect the Xperia Z5 to also come with the Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Ultra and Xperia Z5 Tablet. As usual, do take this with a pinch of salt, but it does sound like the correct timing for it to happen.

The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is one of the thinnest tablets in the market at just 6.4mm thin. Add to the fact that it is also a premium device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 8MP rear camera, 4G LTE connectivity and an 8-inch touchscreen with shatter proof glass and you get a tablet designed for performance with plenty of features to boot. Like other Sony Xperia Z series devices, it is also IP68 certified waterproof. After being announced in November last year, the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact remains one of the thinnest tablets in the market. While the tech specs are a bit older, it is still quite relevant with a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 8-inch Trilumionos display, 6.4mm thinness, 8.1MP rear camera and more. We managed to get our hands on the 4G LTE equipped version for a little unboxing video which you can check out in this article.

Asides from the usual pre-MWC leaks, the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet has now leaked with both tech specs and a pic. These have revealed a rounded corner design and metal trim much like the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. The leaked tech spec for the Xperia Z4 Tablet included a 2K or 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution display. Unconfirmed tech specs and features that are most likely true include a 10.1-inch sized display and IPx7 water and dust resistance just like it's previous versions. While we still recommend taking such rumours with a pinch of salt, we shouldn't have to wait that long for the full official reveal as MWC 2015 is set for just next week.
