Back in October 2024, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the move from a blanket subsidy for RON95 to a targeted one, touted for implementation in mid-2025. However, the move, which may use MyKad as part of its mechanism, has now been delayed.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli today announced that a total of 11.55 million or 52.6 per cent of Malaysians aged 18 and above have updated their info on the Central Database Hub (PADU) as of the deadline yesterday. This makes a total of 17.65 million or 58.7 per cent of the people’s profiles updated on the database, including those aged under 18 years old.
